Celebration of Life services with Military Honors for Joshua Dean Sweeden who passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home.

Burial of cremains will follow in
the Ackworth Cemetery, Joshua Dean Sweeden, the son of Brian and Annette (Ashford) Sweeden was born on Labor Day, September 7, 1987 in Des Moines, IA. He graduated from Indianola High School with the class of 2006. Following graduation, he entered the United States Navy serving on the USS ANNAPOLIS (SSN-760) a Submariner. Following his honorable discharge in 2011 he went to Divers Academy International a commercial dive school in New Jersey. He then worked for Main Stream Commercial Divers based in Kentucky. He returned to Iowa and entered Local #347 Electrical Apprenticeship program.

Most recently he was working for the Baker Group. Josh enjoyed anything extreme...snowboarding, sky diving, mountain biking, Ironman competitions, fishing, traveling, camping, bonfires, fireworks, competitive cribbage games, arm wrestling, hanging out with friends and his family. Josh is survived by his parents, Brian and Annette Sweeden; siblings, Luke (Valarie) Janes, Jordan (Ethan) Quick; nieces and nephews, Adia, Koltyn, Maverick, Aubrey, Isabella and Wyatt; grandparents, Beth and Brad Henry; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Tony Sweeden and grandmother, Ann Ashford.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Veter-ans 4 Child Rescue. To sign an online condolence, visit our website at
